Obituary for Stephen Guy Vallandingham

Services:
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 10:00 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Father David Beaubien officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery Morganza, MD.


Visitation:
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 6:30 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD.
Stephen Guy Vallandingham, 67, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away in Callaway, MD on January 20, 2015. Born on September 19, 1947 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Margaret Eleanor Guy Vallandingham and Stephen Lawrence Vallandingham. Stephen is survived by his children; Stephen Davis Vallandingham (Leah) of California, MD, Jessica Maria Vallandingham of Mechanicsville, MD, Grandson Stephen Riley Vallandingham, and Stephen’s significant other Cindy Chamberlain. Siblings; Alice Sophia Vallandingham Bailey, and Lawrence Grayson Vallandingham both of Leonardtown, MD.
Stephen served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970, earning the Purple Heart while in the Vietnam War. He was a lifetime resident of St. Mary’s County, MD and worked as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal for the Department of Defense. Stephen was a member of the Charles County Corvette Club and was past Vice President of the St. Mary’s County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding in his corvette, fixing things, and helping others.

Honorary Pallbearers will be; Stephen Riley Vallandingham, Jimmy Herman, Joseph Chamberlain, and Tommy Stickel. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice House of St. Mary’s P.O.
