Dorothy Marie "Dottie" Hester Skok
Dorothy Marie Hester Skok, “Dottie”, 76, of Great Mills, MD, formerly from Leonardtown, MD, passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 8th, 2021.
Dottie was born on October 18th, 1944 in Leonardtown, MD, to the late Mary Evelyn Owens and John Shelton Howe Sr. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husband William Earl Hester Sr, whom she married at the St. Nicholas Church in Patuxent River, her two children; Ricky Allen Hester, and William Earl Hester, Jr., Her Brothers; James Howe, Paul Howe, and her sister Mary Ann Shaw.
She is survived by her daughters; Donna Walker of Georgia, Lisa Hester of Mississippi, her sons; Rodger Hester of Lexington Park, MD, Christopher Jay Hester of Leonardtown, MD, her two sisters Betty Greenberg of Hollywood, MD, Susie Russell, of California, MD, her brother John Howe Jr., 9 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
After graduating from Leonardtown High School Dottie moved down to South Carolina. In 1985 She moved back to Maryland and worked as a Seachest Manager at the Paul Hall Center for 25 years where she then retired from in 1996.
Dottie’s favorite things in life were spending time with her family, her grandchildren, and collecting dolls.
Family will receive friends on Friday January 15th, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM in the funeral Home chapel with Father Ball Officiating.
In leu of flowers the family is requesting memorial contributions to go to Hospice of St. Mary’s, P.A. Box 625 Leonardtown, MD 20650.
