Bernice Louise Clay, 91, of Lexington Park, MD, passed away on August 16, 2022 in Lexington Park, MD. She was born on March 2, 1931 in Black, Alabama, and was the daughter of the late Bernice Margaret Keith and John Howard Sconiers. Louise was the loving wife of James Carroll Clay who she married on May 26, 1967 in Escambia County, FL and who preceded her in death on August 3, 2022. Louise is survived by her children Jeanne Faye (Birge) Calley-Majors of Pensacola, FL and James Scott Clay of Lexington Park, MD, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren, as well as her sister Betty Sue (Sconiers) Brown of Bonifay, FL. She was preceded in death by her children Judy Ann (Birge) Miller, Jimmy Lamar Birge and her siblings Junior Howard Sconiers, Elbert Eugene Sconiers, and Thomas Rex Sconiers.

Louise moved to St. Mary’s County, MD in 1989. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, outdoor activities, and playing card games with family.
