A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel at 7:00 PM with Deacon Jeff Delano officiating. Interment will be private.
Visitation:
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 from 5:00- 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
Sharon Ruth Varela, 54 of Waldorf, MD, died December 14, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Born April 25, 1954 in Prince George’s County, MD she was the daughter of Norma Marie Headley of Waldorf, MD and the late Stanley Clark Headley. She was the loving wife of Frederico Michael Varela whom she married on September 10, 1973 in Upper Marlboro, MD. She is also survived by her children; Tony Varela, Stacey Varela, Brandy Yates and Christopher Varela, all of Mechanicsville, MD as well as her brother Michael Headley of Merced, CA, her sister Katheleen Stanalonis of Woodstock, GA and ten grandchildren. Sharon was a graduate of Potomac Senior High School who enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo. She was a member of the Ladies of Moose and was employed with Nordstrom Department Stores, where she was an inventory, integrity and quality assurance person. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home were a funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM. with Deacon Jeff Delano officiating.
