Cribbage Friend
Bill provided many hours of fun for me when playing our weekly games of cribbage. We started last fall and I thought I would have the upper hand as Bill had never played. To say that he learned quickly is an understatement as he soon became an admirable opponent. My favorite part of our time spent was hearing Bill’s stories ranging from Vietnam to his family camp in the Finger Lakes and he and Jane’s driving trip across the country. Bill and I shared the same sense of humor. In our last cribbage game he double skunked me (which means I lost by a lot) I told him that I let him win, to which he replied “B.S.” The most touching thing for me was Bill’s and Jane’s phone calls as she drove about town doing her weekly errands. She would call to share her progress and make sure he was doing ok and they would always end in saying “I Love You”. Bill told me one day that he never thought he would live as long as he did; he faced death at an early age and saw many of this friends who did not make it. I’m sure grateful to Bill and the many others like him. Your Friend Dennis
